Well, thismorning I went out to check our new babies that we had yesterday. Ivy Brooks Mocha Choca Late had twins yesterday! a buckling and a Doeling! They are cute. They are doing fine. i’m not sure if i really like Mocha’s udder though. it looks fine from behind but i don’t like the teat size at the moment. They are a little small and well just different. can’t explain it. Vasser her sire improved the rear udder hight and attachment but i think he took away from the teat length.I won’t be for sure untill Vassers other two doelings freshen this summer. so I guess i should wait to see what their udders look like until I make a final decision on what he did or didn’t improve or took away. :0/
anyways so far Ivy Brooks Vassers Dark Legend has given us 3 girls and 1 boy this year so YAY for Me!so far a doe year! I think I am due for one. My first 2 years I had a Buck yearnand then after that a couple girls here and there then Now girls! wwoooo HHOOoo! Well it was a good thing I was home yesterday for Mocha to have her kids. Her buckling came first and of course it was hard for her. I knew it was a buckling before he was even out his hooves were big. and i thought CRUD a BUCK! I wanted a Doeling. so she had his head and hooves almost out and she was straining for so long that i couldn’t bear to have her wait longer it would have taken her a really long time to push that big boy out so I grabbed his hooves and pulled a tiny bit not much and he came sliding right out. I grabbed the towels and dried him off while i was drying him off she started pushing and i was stunned!I thought HOLY COW TWINS! Where was she hiding them? LOL she must carry high like her Dam. But any ways like I said it was a good thing I was there the second was born with the sack still intact and she didn’t even realise she had another one. i grabbed the sack and ripped it open and grabbed the towels and then the baby inhailed a lot of fluid so i swung it and then wiped it’s face again and again and then it started sneezing so i was frantically drying it. (it was brown and small) and then I decided at that time to look and see what it was. it was a DOE! WOO HOO! My first American Nubian Doeling to be Born here! Just what I wanted. So far this year all the doelings are a light brown pink color from Legend and the buckling looks like a Vasser baby. I guess that Vasser and Oreo’s dams are comming out in the girls. they were both brown does. I was hoping for black coloring but that is ok I’ll take what i get. :0) This winter i am going to be doing AI on the girls with some very very nice bucks. I am excited about that.
I think I might have to find a home for our BABY AMY. She wasn’t disbudded and now she is using her horns and i don’t want her to hurt my other does or the babies. so I don’t know. I love her so much maybe i can figure out a new plan instead. She isn’t a mean girl to people just to the other goats and she is 5X smaller than them. (she’s a pygmy Ober mix) I don’t know I may have to just have her horns banded then it won’t be a problem any more. I don’t know…… just weighing my options.
Well on a better note I Finally named Missy’s Twin Doelings I named the “pink” & cream spotted doeling IVY BROOKS MISS ARMANI and the other light brown “pink” doeling IVY BROOKS MISS PRADA. Cute names I thought they needed some High class names. :0) Now Mocha’s baby girl will need one to go with Mochas name wich i got off the song “Lady Marmalade” you know off of Moulin Rouge movie. so her baby girl may be named IVY BROOKS MOULIN ROUGE or something like that. Now if Mocha’s Dam Oreo has a girl or 3 LOL she is big enough her belly almost drags the ground! (she’s due on the 11th) well her girls will be named after coffee too i think. Kinda a trend to keep a name thing going with certain girls. I might name one after my favorite Coffee Blend ever. I had it the first time in California at this little place in the Pasadena Plaza mall when i worked there. The place is called Tiffany’s they serve Coffee, pastries and toasted lunch sandwiches and breakfast bagels. Just to let you know that place is the BOMB! AWESOME! LOVE IT! if you ever go there get their Crissonts that are in the shape of a rectangle and are stuffed with sweet creamcheese and raspberry filling. ok so any ways the name of my all time favorite coffee, Drum roll please….Mocha Jara Java pronounced Mocha Hara Java.
Well what has been going on for the past few months here? well My foot is fine just had to get better by it’s self i tweeked it on my flip flops last summer and well damaged the tissue between the muscle that runs down the bottom and the fat on the inside of my right foot. so with streching and lots of walking on it it has gotten better a bit atleast i can walk an not have much pain anymore. We got Stacy registered as a NOA doe for Larrissa so she can show her in the grade category at shows. Stacy is a very high producer in milk so Larrissa thought she needed to beable to get credit for it.Then we were still just waiting for does to have kids.Other than that not much happening here. :0)
well until next time Chat at ya soon and Happy kidding season!
